XANTHUS ANNOUNCES $149 COMPETITIVE "UPGRADE TO OPENWRITE" PROMOTION
Special Offer to users of WriteNow, WordPerfect, WriteUp and Pages
San Diego, CA, November 14, 1994 -- Xanthus International today
announced a competitive "Upgrade to OpenWrite" promotion for its
powerful new word processor for NEXTSTEP(tm). For $149, users of any
word processor for NEXTSTEP, including WriteNow(tm), WordPerfect(tm),
WriteUp(tm) or Pages(tm), may purchase a single-user license of
OpenWrite(tm) for only $149. The offer is good through the end of the
year.
"Not only are we giving a powerful migration solution to users of
WriteNow and WordPerfect, which are no longer available for NEXTSTEP,
but we strongly feel that every current user of a word processing
product on NEXTSTEP will benefit from upgrading to OpenWrite." said
David Peter, Vice President of Sales for Xanthus USA. "OpenWrite
provides the functionality, familiarity, and features of Microsoft
Word, at an affordable price. It's what the NEXTSTEP market has
needed all along." Peter added.
The product's advanced import and export capabilities allow it to
open a company's existing WriteNow and WordPerfect documents, as well
as those from virtually any popular word processors for the Mac or
PC. "The integration is seamless" noted Jesper Lundh, President of
Xanthus, "users can simply double-click to open their existing files
in OpenWrite, then save them as OpenWrite documents or in a format
that can be shared with other users on their network, not matter what
type of computer and word processor they have on their desktop."
OpenWrite is currently compiled tri-fat and will run on Motorola,
Intel and HP PA-RISC based computers. Xanthus is fully committed to
supporting every hardware platform that NEXTSTEP and OPENSTEP will
run on.
