  18. XANTHUS ANNOUNCES $149 COMPETITIVE "UPGRADE TO OPENWRITE" PROMOTION
  19. Special Offer to users of WriteNow, WordPerfect, WriteUp and Pages

  21. San Diego, CA, November 14, 1994 -- Xanthus International today
  22. announced a competitive "Upgrade to OpenWrite" promotion for its
  23. powerful new word processor for NEXTSTEP(tm). For $149, users of any
  24. word processor for NEXTSTEP, including WriteNow(tm), WordPerfect(tm),
  25. WriteUp(tm) or Pages(tm), may purchase a single-user license of
  26. OpenWrite(tm) for only $149. The offer is good through the end of the
  27. year.

  29. "Not only are we giving a powerful migration solution to users of
  30. WriteNow and WordPerfect, which are no longer available for NEXTSTEP,
  31. but we strongly feel that every current user of a word processing
  32. product on NEXTSTEP will benefit from upgrading to OpenWrite." said
  33. David Peter, Vice President of Sales for Xanthus USA. "OpenWrite
  34. provides the functionality, familiarity, and features of Microsoft
  35. Word, at an affordable price. It's what the NEXTSTEP market has
  36. needed all along." Peter added.

  38. The product's advanced import and export capabilities allow it to
  39. open a company's existing WriteNow and WordPerfect documents, as well
  40. as those from virtually any popular word processors for the Mac or
  41. PC. "The integration is seamless" noted Jesper Lundh, President of
  42. Xanthus, "users can simply double-click to open their existing files
  43. in OpenWrite, then save them as OpenWrite documents or in a format
  44. that can be shared with other users on their network, not matter what
  45. type of computer and word processor they have on their desktop."

  47. OpenWrite is currently compiled tri-fat and will run on Motorola,
  48. Intel and HP PA-RISC based computers. Xanthus is fully committed to
  49. supporting every hardware platform that NEXTSTEP and OPENSTEP will
  50. run on.

  80. Users that do not currently have a word processor can take advantage
  81. of special introductory pricing for OpenWrite of $295, available
  82. through the end of the year. After December 31, OpenWrite will retail
  83. for $395.

  85. Xanthus also announced that it will begin shipping its Open Office
  86. Suite, which includes: OpenWrite; Questor(tm), the company's high-end
  87. spreadsheet application; as well as Graphity(tm), a 3D presentation
  88. charting and graphing application. The Suite, which has a retail
  89. price of $895 will be available at a special introductory price of
  90. $695 through December 31.
